The Soreg Inscription

The Soreg Inscription, an inscription in Greek from the late first century BC or the beginning of the first century AD, was found in Jerusalem, warning Gentiles not to enter the sanctuary where the Jewish temple was located. If they failed to heed this warning, they would be killed and have only themselves to blame for the consequences. This inscription now stands at the National Archaeological Museum in Istanbul. In addition, archaeologists have found two fragmentary copies of this warning that were in both Latin and Greek. The Soreg Inscription bears witness to the wall of hostility that has been torn down. “For he (Jesus) is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility” (Eph 2:14).
